Yoon Han-hong of the People Power Party, who is suspected of improperly intervening in the selection of a contractor during the transfer of the presidential residence, appeared before the second consolidated special counsel team led by Kwon Chang-young on the 1st and was questioned for about nine hours.
From 10 a.m. to 7:05 p.m. that day, the special counsel team summoned Yoon as a suspect on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of the exercise of rights and questioned him.
The special counsel team pressed Yoon on whether he intervened in the change of the residence site and the contractor selection process, but Yoon was said to have denied the allegations.
Before the morning session began, Yoon told reporters, "The residence construction took place after the transition committee ended and after former President Yoon Suk-yeol took office," adding, "It has nothing to do with me."
The special counsel team plans to wrap up the case with the day's questioning without summoning Yoon again. In March, the team searched Yoon as its "first compulsory investigation" and continued related investigations for about four months, and this was the first interrogation of him as a suspect.
Yoon is accused of improperly intervening in the change of the residence site and the selection of construction firms while overseeing the transfer of the residence as the Head of Team of the presidential office transfer task force (TF) under the Yoon Suk-yeol administration.
