Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) expected that during this year's summer vacation period, from on the 25th to on the 10th, an average of 222,000 people a day will use Incheon Airport. The total number of users is 3.77 million, up 1.9% from a year earlier. It also estimated that the largest crowd will come on on the 2nd.
The corporation announced the expected number of airport users for the summer vacation period. The corporation said, "Recently, demand among Korean nationals for overseas travel has tended to concentrate around Lunar New Year and Chuseok holidays," and noted, "In July–August, as demand from foreign visitors to Korea increases, there is a possibility of airport congestion."
According to the corporation, on on the 2nd, daily users are expected to reach 234,273, the highest during the summer vacation period. On that day, an estimated 121,812 people will use the airport for arrivals, and 120,951 people will come to the airport for departures.
The corporation said it will open major departure halls 30 minutes earlier than usual to reduce congestion at departures. It also decided to operate up to 44 security screening devices (CT X-ray) in total (19 at Terminal 1 and 25 at Terminal 2).
In addition, the corporation transferred the quarantine lanes at Terminal 2 arrivals to secure additional waiting space. It said it also newly produced and installed 99 wayfinding signs so that arriving and transit passengers can easily move to their destinations. The number of Smart Pass–dedicated departure halls was expanded from four to five.
Kim Beom-ho, acting president of Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC), said, "From the moment foreign tourists arrive in Korea, we will intensively manage arrival flows, multilingual guidance, and smart services so they can experience convenient and safe services."
