Former Roh Moo-hyun Foundation Chairman Yoo Si-min strongly criticized President Lee Jae-myung's handling of appointments and prosecution reform as a "wrong decision," saying "President Lee Jae-myung will end in failure."
On the 15th, Yoo appeared on the YouTube show "Maebul Show" and brought up personnel issues, including former Vice Chair Lee Byung-tae of the Regulatory Rationalization Committee, who resigned over the "May 18 sacred area" remark. Yoo said, "Judging by what the president said, if one did not hold the idea (of reconstruction theory), it could not have come out."
The "reconstruction theory" Yoo mentioned refers not to "expansion," which broadens the party's reach while maintaining the Democratic Party's traditional base and forces, but to a plan to reorganize the party by tearing down the existing mainstream and bringing in a large number of new figures and forces.
On prosecution reform as well, Yoo pointed to President Lee as the person responsible. Regarding the introduction of a bill that would retain part of the supplementary investigation authority, he said, "They do that because they know the president does not want it," adding, "The reason prosecution reform has not been achieved for more than a year now is because the president does not want a complete separation of investigation and indictment."
Regarding the argument over who is responsible for the delay in prosecution reform, he said, "Shifting the blame to the Minister of the Ministry of Justice or the senior presidential secretary for civil affairs is something we have turned away from early on out of fear of facing the facts," adding, "The president ordered it." He continued, "It's like you need glasses to see clearly, but you deliberately take them off and look, willfully turning away from reality."
Yoo said, "The president is making a very wrong judgment and is acting in a way that harms himself and is not good for the country," adding, "I respect that the president chooses a certain line, but I think that choice will end in failure."
He also criticized President Lee's social media activity during the June 3 local elections and the National Assembly speaker election process. Yoo said, "The primary for the Democratic Party's Seoul mayoral candidate was made unfair," adding, "By boosting Chong Won-o on the president's social media, it became an unfair primary." He went on, "In the Gyeonggi governor election as well, a certain candidate ran while calling themself 'Myung-pick,' but the Blue House took no action."
Yoo brought up the "reconstruction theory" again. He said, "It seems like some kind of political realignment is in mind, but instead of explaining that plan to people and winning consent by showing a bird's-eye view of the new house and neighborhood, it looks like they are pushing it through with the president's power," adding, "It is very unsettling." He continued, "Setting right and wrong aside, this is heading down a path of inevitable failure," adding, "It is regrettable that the president or aides do not recognize this."
