Exports in June were tallied at $102.2 billion, surpassing $100 billion for the first time on a monthly basis. Semiconductor shipments accounted for more than 40% of the total and drove the performance.
The Korea Customs Service said on the 15th in its "June 2026 monthly trade statistics (final)" that last month's exports rose 70.7% from a year earlier. Monthly exports had been in the $80 billion range for the past three months — March ($87.2 billion), April ($85.9 billion), and May ($87.7 billion) — but surpassed $100 billion for the first time.
The semiconductor industry led exports. Semiconductor exports exceeded $40 billion for the first time and rose for the 16th straight month. Exports of passenger cars (6.1%), petroleum products (47.5%), ships (16.6%), and wireless communication devices (60.6%) also increased.
Among major export destinations, the United States (78.6%), China (92.0%), Vietnam (74.6%), Taiwan (91.6%), and the European Union (31.8%) increased, while the Middle East and others decreased.
