Ahn Cheol-soo of the People Power Party said on the 13th, "KB Kookmin Bank, which halved mortgage loans, should just change its signboard to 'JM Jaemyung Bank.'"
Ahn said in a Facebook post that day, "KB Kookmin Bank cut the mortgage loan limit from 600 million won to 300 million won," and added, "Other commercial banks are also raising lending thresholds, and this 'loan slicing' is spreading nationwide."
Ahn said, "For move-in buyers who have already signed contracts and set closing dates, there is nothing more like a bolt from the blue," and criticized it as "telling them to suddenly come up with another 300 million won means to use illegal private loans or be thrown out onto the street."
He continued, "The Lee Jae-myung administration that tightened lending regulations is a problem, but KB Kookmin Bank, which cut off the public's lifeline of funds first while watching the Lee administration's mood, is truly a bank that betrayed the people," adding, "KB, which cut off and betrayed the public's lifeline of funds, is not qualified to have the name 'Kookmin (people).' It would not be out of line to change the signboard to 'JM Jaemyung Bank.'"
Ahn said, "At a minimum, the government should exempt first-time homebuyers and end users without dwellings from the total lending cap," and criticized, "Before cutting the loan limit, KB should first present measures for these customers."
He added, "The basic principle of real estate policy is to guarantee the right of anyone to own a home," and said, "If the Lee administration's real estate policy fails, KB will be recorded as the place that took the lead in depriving this basic right."
