Last year, 32.9% of the comprehensive real estate tax on dwellings nationwide was paid by taxpayers whose registered address is in Seoul's three Gangnam districts (Gangnam, Seocho, Songpa). The share for the three Gangnam districts hit a record high in the five years since 2020 (39.5%).
According to the National Tax Service's National Tax Statistics Portal on Dec. 12, the finalized amount of comprehensive real estate tax on dwellings nationwide was 1.3089 trillion won. Of that, 430 billion won (32.9%) in comprehensive real estate tax on dwellings was paid in Gangnam, Seocho and Songpa districts. The comprehensive real estate tax on dwellings in the three Gangnam districts rose 35.2%, from 318.1 billion won in 2024 to 430 billion won last year. That outpaced the nationwide growth rate for comprehensive real estate tax on dwellings over the same period (20.4%).
Seoul's total comprehensive real estate tax on dwellings was 741.1 billion won, up 30.1% from the previous year (569.8 billion won). By district, Gangnam had the most last year at 233.6 billion won. Seocho was 142.9 billion won, Yongsan was 65 billion won, and Songpa was 53.4 billion won, it was found.
In particular, Seongdong rose 40.9% to 26.4 billion won from the previous year (18.7 billion won), overtaking Yeongdeungpo (24.4 billion won) to rank sixth in Seoul. Gangdong recorded the highest growth rate, jumping 126.3% to 16.8 billion won from the previous year (7.4 billion won). The areas where comprehensive real estate tax on dwellings decreased were Gangseo and Jung.
Seongnam ranked fifth nationwide with 42 billion won, following Gangnam, Seocho, Yongsan and Songpa. Sixth was Yongin (39.1 billion won). Cheongju posted 24.3 billion won, next after Seoul's Jung, Seongdong and Yeongdeungpo districts.
