The Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment said that, as the water level of Dorim Stream in Seoul rose due to localized heavy downpours, a flood advisory was issued for the areas around Sindaebang Station, Sillim Station and Boramae Station as of 12:40 p.m. on the 9th. This is the first issuance since the Urban Flood Prevention Act took effect in 2024 and the pilot urban flood forecasting project began on June 19 for six districts—Gangnam, Seocho, Gwanak, Guro, Dongjak and Yeongdeungpo—in Seoul.
The ministry said it issued the flood advisory after analyzing the water levels of Dorim Stream and nearby sewers and the expected rainfall, concluding that the road surface water level would approach or exceed the flood threshold of 15 cm. Residents in the areas under the advisory should take safety precautions, such as preparing to install flood barriers in advance and refraining from accessing low-lying and underground spaces.
