On July 3, the National Tax Service appointed Park Hae-young, director general of the Collection and Legal Affairs Bureau, as Vice Administrator, the agency's No. 2, and named Ahn Deok-su, director general of the Investigation Bureau, as head of the Seoul Regional Tax Service, the largest regional office in the country.
The National Tax Service said it aims to promptly push ahead with key pending tasks in the second half by filling vacancies created by the honorable retirement of major postholders, including regional commissioners. It added that it will assign those born between 1969 and 1972, who have extensive experience, as regional commissioners to provide stable support for state affairs and the organization and to enhance the expertise of tax administration execution.
New National Tax Service Vice Administrator Park Hae-young entered public service after passing the 41st higher civil service exam in 1998 and has served as director general of the Collection and Legal Affairs Bureau and Inspector General at the National Tax Service; director general of Investigation Bureau 3 at the Seoul office; director general of the Collection and Litigation Bureau at the Busan office; and director general of Investigation Bureau 3 at the Jungbu office. As director general of the Collection and Legal Affairs Bureau, Park oversaw the launch of the national tax arrears management unit.
New Seoul Regional Tax Service head Ahn Deok-su began public service after passing the 40th higher civil service exam in 1998. Ahn later served as director general of the Investigation Bureau, director general of the Collection and Legal Affairs Bureau, and director general of the asset Taxation Bureau at the National Tax Service; director general of the Litigation Bureau and director general of Investigation Bureau 4 at the Seoul office; and director general of Investigation Bureau 1 at the Jungbu office. As director general of the Investigation Bureau, Ahn oversaw tax audits related to unfair stock market tax evasion, including stock price manipulation.
Kim Ji-hoon, Director General for Planning and Coordination at the National Tax Service, was appointed head of the Jungbu Regional Tax Service, which has jurisdiction over the Gyeonggi region. Kim, the new commissioner, entered public service after passing the 41st higher civil service exam in 1998 and served as Director General for Planning and Coordination and Inspector General at the National Tax Service; director general of the Litigation Bureau and director general of Investigation Bureau 2 at the Seoul office; and director general of Investigation Bureau 3 and director general of the Collection and Litigation Bureau at the Jungbu office.
Oh Sang-hoon, director general of the asset Taxation Bureau at the National Tax Service, will take office as head of the Busan Regional Tax Service; Shim Uk-ki, director general of the Corporate Taxation Bureau at the National Tax Service, as head of the Daejeon Regional Tax Service; Yang Cheol-ho, chief information officer at the National Tax Service, as head of the Gwangju Regional Tax Service; Park Jeong-yeol, director general of the Individual Taxation Bureau at the National Tax Service, as head of the Daegu Regional Tax Service; and Kim Seung-min, director general of Investigation Bureau 1 at the Seoul Regional Tax Service, as head of the National Tax Officials Training Institute.
