The government said on the 1st that online rumors about the "voiding of large companies' excess-profit bonus agreements" are not true.
Recently online, a post spread claiming the government sent an official letter to Samsung Electronics and SK hynix ordering a full reexamination of a labor-management agreement centered on sharing a set percentage of operating profit as bonuses. Another post was shared saying the government is reviewing a plan to distribute part of large companies' excess profits to subcontractors and the public or to set it aside in the form of a fund.
In response, the Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL) told the press corps by text notice that "the related posts are completely baseless" and "contrary to the facts." It added, "If such false posts are maliciously spread, we will respond firmly by reporting them to investigative authorities."
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources also said, "The post claiming the government sent an official letter to Samsung Electronics and SK hynix is completely untrue," adding, "We plan to respond firmly, including reporting to investigative authorities, in cases of malicious dissemination."
