The Democratic Party of Korea formed an in-house task force to support the three mega projects that President Lee Jae-myung released.
Kang Jun-hyun, the Democratic Party chief spokesperson, met with reporters at the National Assembly on the morning of the 1st and said, "The three mega projects are a feast table that the government and corporations have carefully prepared for Korea's future growth engines and balanced development," adding, "A pan-ministry joint task force has been formed, and a dedicated team has also been set up in the presidential office. In response, the Democratic Party will also launch a task force to support the three mega projects."
Policy Committee Chairperson Han Jeong-ae will lead the task force, and the senior vice chair of the Policy Committee and the senior deputy floor leader will participate as Commissioners. In addition, ruling party secretaries from the relevant standing committees will join the task force.
The Democratic Party said it would immediately put into operation the 11 National Assembly standing committees formed at the plenary session the day before. Floor leader Han Byeong-do said at the supreme council meeting that day, "We met the People Power Party as many as 17 times to form the House, but they kept repeating like a ditto mark that we should give up the Legislation and Judiciary Committee chair," adding, "As the responsible ruling party, we could not stand by."
Han, the floor leader, said, "As a first step to create a working National Assembly, we elected chairs of 11 standing committees," adding, "If the People Power Party feels even a shred of responsibility, cooperate now in electing the remaining seven standing committee Chairpersons."
Chief spokesperson Kang also said, "There are many pending issues, including livelihood and state affairs bills and a special counsel for the National Election Commission, so we will swiftly push legislative tasks."
