Prime Minister Han Seong-sook took office on the 1st. When asked by reporters on her way to work, "What do you consider the first task?" Han said, "I will do my best to make the government move a little faster."
Han received her letter of appointment from President Lee Jae-myung at the Blue House at 10 a.m. She then headed to Government Complex Seoul about 40 minutes later. Han said, "Korea's status is changing into a country leading a great upheaval," adding, "The government will also move quickly in line with this and do its best to ensure that necessary policies are implemented in a timely manner."
Regarding the 3 mega projects worth 4.7 quadrillion won that the government recently released, Han said it was "the day a milestone was set that changes the scale and speed of our industry and balanced development from what we had imagined until now." She added, "We will carry out investment in AI (artificial intelligence) and advanced industries more boldly, and we will actively pursue rationalizing regulations that could become obstacles to innovation." She continued, "We will work to ensure those results permeate people's lives."
On the People Power Party submitting an opinion of "unqualified" on the motion to appoint the prime minister and the ruling bloc passing it alone, Han said, "I remember that everyone applauded at the confirmation hearing."
