This year's College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) will be held on Nov. 19. Applications open on Aug. 20. As in previous years, the EBS linkage rate for the CSAT will be maintained at about 50% based on the number of questions by section and subject.
On the 30th, the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation (KICE) announced the "Detailed implementation plan for the 2027 CSAT." KICE said, "This year's CSAT will keep the linkage rate with EBS textbooks and lectures at 50% and raise perceived relevance through indirect linkage using materials such as passages, charts, and figures."
The Korean language, mathematics, and vocational studies sections will be administered in a "common subject + elective subject" format. In the social studies and science sections, test-takers may choose up to two subjects from 17 electives without distinction between social and science. As in last year, English, Korean history, and the second foreign language/classical Chinese sections will be graded on an absolute basis.
All test-takers must take Korean history. If a test-taker does not take Korean history, the CSAT application itself is invalid and no score will be provided.
To sit for the CSAT, from Aug. 20 to Sept. 3, test-takers must enter application details and pay the application fee using the online pre-entry system, then visit the application site in person from Aug. 24 to Sept. 4 to receive the receipt.
The application fee remains the same as last year: 37,000 won for up to four sections, 42,000 won for five sections, and 47,000 won for six sections. Recipients of the National Basic Livelihood Security Program, legally defined near-poverty households, and those eligible for single-parent family support may have the fee waived.
Score reports will be distributed to test-takers on Dec. 11. Current students can receive them at their schools on the day scores are released, and graduates and test-takers who passed the qualification exam can obtain them online.
