The People Power Party reaffirmed its position that it will not concede the Chairperson of The National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee (Legislation and Judiciary Committee) to the Democratic Party of Korea.
Choi Eun-seok, the People Power Party's senior spokesperson for the floor, told reporters after a general meeting of lawmakers at the National Assembly on the afternoon of the 29th, "After hearing from lawmakers at the general meeting, the overwhelming view was that the Legislation and Judiciary Committee can never be conceded."
Choi, the senior spokesperson for the floor, said, "So as not to hinder negotiations over standing committee chairpersons, one of the three-term lawmakers also said the floor leader should be granted full authority to negotiate all standing committee chair positions," adding, "Given that no rebuttal was raised, it is presumed that everyone is thinking along those lines."
On whether to boycott all standing committees, Choi, the senior spokesperson for the floor, said, "We will decide after seeing whether the plenary session is held tomorrow and whether talks with the Democratic Party progress."
