Prime Minister Kim Min-seok on the 28th pushed back against conservative criticism of Samsung Electronics and SK hynix investing in a Honam semiconductor cluster, asking, "Is this the true face of regional discrimination that opposes anything in Honam?"
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) that day, Kim asked, "Even in the Yoon Suk-yeol era, wasn't it judged the optimal site?" and stated accordingly.
This is seen as referring to news reports that in 2023, during the Yoon Suk-yeol administration, Gwangju and South Jeolla failed to win the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources' semiconductor bid for the "national high-tech strategic industry specialized complex" but still received the top grade.
Regarding the People Power Party's criticism, Kim called it "opposition for opposition's sake" and said, "Has even the memory faded?"
