the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said on the 27th that more than 10 Chinese and Russian military aircraft entered and then exited the air defense identification zone (KADIZ) over the East Sea and the South Sea.
According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), on the morning of the same day, more than 10 Chinese and Russian military aircraft sequentially entered and then exited the KADIZ over the East Sea and the South Sea. However, there was no airspace intrusion in the process, it said.
In a text message sent to the press corps, the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) explained that it had identified the Chinese and Russian military aircraft before they entered the KADIZ and that it deployed Air Force fighter jets and carried out tactical measures to prepare for contingencies.
The Chinese and Russian military aircraft that entered the KADIZ that day were bombers and fighters and were reportedly assets participating in the ongoing China-Russia combined air drills.
It has been about six months since Chinese and Russian military aircraft entered the KADIZ, after December last year. At that time as well, nine Chinese and Russian military aircraft participating in the combined drills entered and then exited the KADIZ over the East Sea and the South Sea.
KADIZ refers to a zone designated by each country for national security. It is a different concept from sovereign airspace. To prevent military tension, it is international practice for military aircraft to notify their flight plan and position before entering an air defense identification zone.
