The National Tax Service said it will carry out senior-level appointments on the 26th, promoting eight assistant directors, including Spokesperson Kim Sang-beom, to deputy director general.
The National Tax Service said it will carry out the appointments effective on the 29th, actively reflecting work performance to date, contributions to the organization, and level of effort.
Of the eight promoted in this round of appointments, half came through special recruitment and other non-administrative examination channels. Spokesperson Kim Sang-beom, who is among those promoted, entered public service in 1993 through special recruitment at grade 8. Kim later served as head of the value-added taxes system division at the Jungbu regional office, among other posts.
Another person up for promotion, Ahn Min-gyu, head of the collection division, began a public service career in 1993 through special recruitment at grade 8. Ahn later served as head of the National Tax Service collection division and head of the public-interest small and medium corporations support team. Shin Sang-mo, head of the inheritance and gift tax division, joined in 2007 through career recruitment at grade 5 and went on to serve as head of the regulations division and head of an investigation division at Investigation Bureau 3 of the Seoul regional office.
Three of those up for promotion are women. Oh Mi-sun, head of Investigation Division 2, joined in 2005 through the 48th administrative examination and later served as head of the income tax division and director for national tax data, among other posts. Choi Ji-eun, director general for faithful taxpayer support at the Daejeon Regional National Tax Service, began a public service career through the 47th administrative examination in 2004 and worked as head of the National Tax Service Investigation Division 2, Director for Audit and Inspection, and head of the legal affairs division.
