Prime Minister nominee and Minister of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups Han Seong-sook said on the 23rd that "of the three dwellings owned, the officetel in Yeoksam-dong, Seoul, and the country house in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi Province, were sold, making me a single-dwelling owner."
In a press release distributed to reporters that day, the nominee said, "On the 22nd–23rd, I sold the Yeoksam-dong officetel and the Yangpyeong country house at prices below their acquisition costs." The nominee added, "I currently own only one dwelling located in Samcheong-dong."
The nominee was reported to have acquired the Yeoksam officetel in 2022 by subscribing for 2.07463 billion won. The officetel was said to have been sold for 1.5 billion won. The Yangpyeong country house was acquired in 2009 for 780 million won and sold for 500 million won.
The nominee said, "I donated 500 million won to an international relief and development organization from the capital gains (2.95 billion won) on the previously disposed Jamsil apartment sale." The nominee was reported to have purchased the apartment in 2006 for 2.25 billion won and sold it for 5.2 billion won after being nominated as prime minister. This came as the grace period for the higher capital gains tax on multiple-dwelling owners was nearing its end.
Meanwhile, President Lee Jae-myung nominated the nominee for prime minister on the 7th. The National Assembly confirmation hearing for the nominee will be held on the 25th–26th.
