President Lee Jae-myung said on the 19th that during his tour of Europe, he was asked by U.S. President Donald Trump in their meeting to quickly build 10 U.S. warships.
In a briefing at Cheong Wa Dae's Chunchugwan press center on the afternoon of the same day on the outcome of his Europe trip, including the Group of Seven (G7) summit, the president said, "I heard from President Trump asking whether we could quickly build 10 U.S. warships," adding this.
He added, "Of course it is possible, and I told him we would do our best," and "President Trump spoke about the importance of U.S.-Korea cooperation and U.S.-Korea-Japan cooperation, and I expressed agreement on that point."
The president is said to have communicated with President Trump for more than 90 minutes at the G7 dinner. He said, "French President Macron intentionally seated me next to President Trump," and "I had an in-depth conversation with President Trump. It seems it was actually much better than a formal summit."
