Lee Jae-myung's job approval registered a "dead cross," with negative views outnumbering positive ones. For the first time since taking office in June last year, negative ratings led within the margin of error.
According to a survey conducted by the polling firm Jowon C&I at the request of Straight News from the 13th to the 15th, the president's job approval came in at 47.7% positive and 49.0% negative. Specifically, among positive ratings, "doing very well" was 37.0% and "doing well" was 10.7%, while negative ratings were 11.1% for "doing poorly" and 37.9% for "doing very poorly," it was found.
Compared with the survey released on June 9, the positive rating fell 2.9 percentage points from 50.6% to 47.7%, while the negative rating rose 3.5 percentage points from 45.5% to 49.0%. Responses saying "doing very poorly" increased 4.7 percentage points from 33.2% to 37.9%.
In this survey, negative ratings outpaced positive ratings for the first time since the president took office on June 4, 2025. From the survey released on June 17 last year until last week, there had not been a single reversal, but in this survey, negative ratings surpassed positive ratings for the first time.
Looking at the trend over the past month, the positive rating declined from 63.9% to 58.4% to 50.6%, and then to 47.7% in this survey, while the negative rating steadily rose from the low-to-mid 30% range to reach 49.0%.
The survey was conducted nationwide among 2,001 adults aged 18 and older using automated response to mobile phone calls. The response rate was 3.8%, and the margin of sampling error was ±2.2% at the 95% confidence level. For details, refer to the website of the National Election Survey Deliberation Commission.
