Regarding the ultra-innovation economic project the government is pursuing to secure world-class technological prowess, he said, "For next-generation Power Semiconductor, we will complete a commercialization technology roadmap in June and launch a large-scale research and development (R&D) planning effort linked with demand-side corporations."
In addition, for small modular reactors (SMRs), based on the Special Act on the Promotion and Support for the Development of Small Modular Reactors (SMR Special Act) set to take effect in September, the government plans to push for early commercialization with speed, and will support technology development and field demonstrations for on-sensor AI that fuses sensor and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, actuators (robot drives) for Humanoid Robot, and secondary batteries.
Deputy Prime Minister Koo said, "Future growth engines for an economic re-leap must start in the regions," adding, "Starting next week, I will personally visit '5 poles, 3 specials' nationwide to identify region-specific growth drivers and support them systematically."
Meanwhile, with casualties from the Daejeon Anjeon Industry fire and the explosion at the Hanwha Aerospace Daejeon plant, the government also said at the meeting that it will launch a sweeping fire safety survey of factories and warehouses nationwide.
