As of the end of 2024, Chairman Kwon is the No. 1 individual in delinquent taxes, owing 393.8 billion won. After founding the ship management company Sido Mulsan in 1990, Kwon operated shipping businesses in several countries and was even called the ship king.
That day, the Investigation Bureau 4 of the Seoul Regional Tax Service was reported to have launched a special tax audit into the Korea Office of Sido Shipping in Seocho-gu, Seoul. The National Tax Service was also said to have obtained a court-issued search and seizure warrant in connection with Chairman Kwon's suspected evasion of taxes and seized employees' PCs and mobile phones.
