Minister Kim Young-hoon of the Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL) will deliver a speech on "human-centered artificial intelligence (AI) transition" at the plenary session of the International Labour Organization (ILO) conference on the 10th. In the address, Minister Kim will emphasize the AI transition while introducing the policy direction of a "grand industrial transition with labor," including protecting workers' rights, strengthening the social safety net, and social dialogue.
Minister Kim will depart on the 7th for a business trip to attend the ILO conference in Geneva, Switzerland, held from the 8th to the 10th (local time). Joining this trip are Kim Ji-hyung, chair of the Economic, Social and Labor Council, Democratic Party of Korea lawmakers Lee Hak-young and Joo-Young Kim, and People Power Party lawmakers Kim Hyeong-dong and Kim Wi-sang.
Before the speech, Minister Kim will host the "Korea–ILO cooperation project partnership reception," inviting delegations from major beneficiary countries of international cooperation projects—including Cambodia, Paraguay, Vietnam, and Mongolia—to share project outcomes and development plans.
Since 2004, Korea has supported developing countries in areas such as vocational training, youth employment, industrial safety, and the social solidarity economy. The support scale for 2024–2026 is 16.6 billion won.
During the conference, Minister Kim is set to meet the ILO director-general, Spain's minister of labor and social economy, and the Netherlands' minister of social affairs and employment. On the 11th–12th, in Germany, Kim will meet with the Confederation of German Employers' Associations and the German Trade Union Confederation, among others, to discuss tripartite social dialogue cases.
