Han Byeong-do, floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, said the party will push for a National Assembly inquiry into the June 3 local election ballot paper shortage.
Meeting with reporters at the National Assembly on the 5th, Floor Leader Han said, "We will boldly push reforms so that the National Election Commission can earn the public's trust, and we will also pursue a parliamentary inquiry."
He added, "This ballot paper shortage is baffling and defies understanding," and said, "We need to get to the bottom of it so this never happens again and so we can figure out why on earth it happened."
Han said, "If we conduct a parliamentary inquiry, we need to precisely establish how it happened from the start," adding, "Once we ascertain the facts, we plan to look into what fundamental problems the election commission has."
He continued, "The People Power Party is also extremely angry and dumbfounded internally," and said, "There shouldn't be any disagreement between the ruling and opposition parties about pursuing a parliamentary inquiry."
