Song Eon-seog, floor leader of the People Power Party, said on the 4th that the party "humbly accepts the will of the people expressed through the June 3 local elections."
Issuing a statement that morning, Floor Leader Song said, "The true winner of this local election is the wise people," and stated accordingly.
Song said, "The people did not raise the hand of either the president or any of the ruling and opposition parties," adding, "They sternly called for restoring politics of checks and balances across the political sphere, including the president and the ruling and opposition parties, central and local governments, and metropolitan and basic governments."
He added, "The People Power Party will humbly accept the people's demands and warnings," and "We offer our sincere thanks to everyone who sent support and encouragement to our People Power Party workers, and extend deep condolences to our party's unsuccessful candidates who narrowly missed their goals."
Regarding the "ballot shortage incident," Song said, "It is a grave incident that seriously infringed on the people's right to vote. We strongly condemn the irresponsible attitude of the National Election Commission, which began the count before voting was completed, failed to halt the count, and shifted responsibility to the Seoul Metropolitan Election Commission (Election Commission)," adding, "We will pursue strong measures to prevent a recurrence, including uncovering the truth of the incident, punishing those responsible, and establishing external oversight of the Election Commission."
