At 6 p.m. on the 3rd, when voting in the June 3 local elections ends, the leadership of both parties will gather in their parties' ballot-count monitoring rooms to watch the exit poll results.
Democratic Party of Korea leader Jung Chung-rae is expected to check the count in the party's monitoring room set up at the National Assembly Members' Office Building, and People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyeok will watch the exit poll results at the central party headquarters' monitoring room in Yeouido.
The two party leaders plan to enter the monitoring rooms around 5:30 p.m. and watch the joint exit poll by the three terrestrial broadcasters, which will be released right after voting ends at 6 p.m.
That day, both sides' leadership encouraged voter participation in unison. At a morning meeting of the central election committee, leader Jung appealed for participation, saying, "Voting is stronger than bullets. Power comes from the polling place, not the muzzle of a gun."
Leader Jang likewise stressed, "If you give up voting, you will be ruled by the worst lowlifes," adding, "Go to the polling place right now and show the power of the sovereign."
