The Korea Election Pool (KEP) will conduct exit polls that day at a total of 595 polling stations nationwide. KEP is composed of the three terrestrial broadcasters—KBS, MBC, and SBS—and the Korea Broadcasters Association.
Those surveyed in this exit poll are the 16 metropolitan mayors and provincial governors and the superintendents of education. It also includes districts holding National Assembly by-elections, such as Pyeongtaek-eul in Gyeonggi and Buk-gap in Busan.
KEP's exit poll results, to be released at 6 p.m. that day, reflect not only on-site polling station data but also the results of telephone surveys of tens of thousands of people. Along with the exit poll, KEP is conducting a telephone survey of 28,500 early voters. This is to improve the accuracy of projected winners, given that exit polls are not permitted during the early voting period under the Public Official Election Act.
KEP's exit poll results will be released on the election broadcasts of the three terrestrial networks at 6 p.m. that day. However, projected winners and expected vote shares may only be cited starting at 6:15 p.m., 15 minutes after polls close.
At 6 p.m. the same day, JTBC will also disclose some projected winner results as polls close. The results of JTBC's June 3 local election projection survey may be cited immediately after release. However, all online channels—including terrestrial and general programming channels, news channels, internet media, portal sites, and YouTube—must indicate the source as "JTBC projection survey."
