Jang Dong-hyeok, the People Power Party's standing election committee chair, on the 2nd, a day before the June 3 local elections, said, "If they even take over local governments, Lee Jae-myung's arrogance will cross the final red line," and appealed, "Please be sure to vote to stop the runaway of the Lee Jae-myung administration and the Democratic Party of Korea."
That morning, at the central party headquarters in Yeouido, Chair Jang held a press conference appealing to the public and said, "The arrogance of Lee Jae-myung and the Democratic Party pierces the sky," and stated accordingly.
Aiming at President Lee Jae-myung, Chair Jang said, "Even at the moment when the explosion in Daejeon occurred yesterday, he was posting on social media an article attacking the press," and criticized, "For Lee Jae-myung, what matters more than the people's safety and lives is only the stock market."
He continued, "All they talk about is KOSPI 8000, while the 'three highs' of a high exchange rate, high inflation, and high interest rates are crushing the economy and livelihoods," and argued, "The won-dollar rate is not dropping below 1,500 won, prices and loan rates are soaring, and small business owners are closing their shops."
He added, "They are saying nothing but the supremely arrogant line that if you made money in stocks, vote for the Democratic Party," and emphasized, "We must stop the collapse of livelihoods and the runaway. Only voting can change things, and we must change them by voting."
Chair Jang said, "If we fail to stop them tomorrow, the Democratic Party will run even more roughshod," and added, "First, they will push through a special counsel to dismiss the indictment, and they will try to open the way to a constitutional amendment for presidential consecutive terms and long-term rule."
He went on, "By pushing an anti-discrimination law, they will slap a frame of hate and discrimination on the opposing public to gag them, and they will try to seize corporations' profits as a national dividend to build a basic-economy rationing system," and criticized, "By calling United States Forces Korea a foreign army and pushing for an early transfer of wartime operational control, they will ultimately move toward dismantling the South Korea–U.S. alliance."
He added, "Lee Jae-myung is thoroughly disregarding the people," and argued, "Shaking the ballot and yelling 'It doesn't matter' at the staff trying to stop it showed the arrogance that Lee Jae-myung is above the law."
Chair Jang emphasized, "We must stop them by voting, and we can stop them by voting. Only voting for the People Power Party is the sole way to protect my freedom, my property, and the future of our descendants," and appealed, "I earnestly ask. You must never give up voting. You must go to the polls."
He again appealed for votes, saying, "Neck-and-neck races are unfolding across the country," and, "The single vote I give up can change victory or defeat."
