Democratic Party of Korea Secretary-General Cho Seung-rae criticized again, calling Song Young-gil, the candidate in the Yeonsu A by-election, and his "defending Kim Kwan-young" remarks "an obvious lie from Kim's side," saying, "It seems Song does not know the party's situation well because he has been away from the party." He also said, "The Democratic Party of Korea candidate for North Jeolla governor is Lee Won-taek," warning that "any words or actions that run counter to this constitute an act against the party."
At a press briefing at the National Assembly on the 1st, Cho said of Song's appearance on a YouTube channel on the 30th, in which Song referred to Kim as "anyway a Democratic Party person" and "the first recruit chosen by President Lee Jae-myung," that "it seems Song does not know the party's situation well because he has been away from the party," and called it "an obvious lie from Kim Kwan-young's side."
At a news conference the previous day, Cho also said, "Are you saying we should condone the illegal distribution of cash?" and noted, "At the time, Song was in a position that made it hard to understand party affairs, so perhaps that is why he thought that way."
Cho went on to say of Kim, "He was not the first recruit of President Lee Jae-myung, but the first person pardoned, forgiven under the broad amnesty measures when Lee was a presidential candidate."
Cho added, "Just as Kim Yong-nam in Pyeongtaek B, Gyeonggi, is the Democratic Party candidate, the North Jeolla governor candidate is Lee Won-taek," and said, "If you are a Democratic Party member supporting Kim Yong-nam, you should naturally support Lee Won-taek."
Aiming at Song's remarks, he added, "It makes no sense to support Kim Yong-nam in Pyeongtaek and support another candidate in North Jeolla," and "I remind you that words and actions that run counter to this are acts against the party."
