Independent candidate Han Dong-hoon for Busan Buk-gu Gap held a press conference on the afternoon of the 1st, saying, "This election is one on which the future of Buk-gu, the future of conservatism, and beyond that the future of the Republic of Korea depends," and added, "Please rally your votes behind me to stop the runaway of the Lee Jae-myung administration."
At his campaign office in Buk-gu, Busan, that day, candidate Han held a press conference and said, "On June 4, the lost 20 years of Buk-gu will come to an end," adding, "I believe in the justification and the spirit of the times that, by my victory, conservatism can be rebuilt and balance can be restored to the Republic of Korea."
Han said, "The two major parties have set aside appearances and are attacking me, an independent candidate, but on June 3 we can show where the true public sentiment lies."
Han went on to say, "Only I can block the cancellation of indictments through retrials and the constitutional amendment for consecutive terms by the Lee Jae-myung administration," adding, "Even if I do not completely satisfy you, please rally your votes to stop the runaway of the Lee Jae-myung administration."
In a subsequent Q&A, Han responded to criticism from Democratic Party of Korea candidate Ha Jung-woo, who said Han would be absorbed only in political strife and neglect Buk-gu, by saying, "Unlike candidate Ha, even if I lose, I will remain in Buk-gu and serve."
Regarding former presidents' visits to Busan, he said, "I respect the actions of the former presidents." As for plans after winning, he said, "As I promised, I will definitely return to the People Power Party."
