Former President Park Geun-hye visited Daegu Seomun Market on the 31st, three days before the June 3 local elections, with Daegu mayoral candidate Choo Kyung-ho of the People Power Party. Following her stump speech supporting Chilseong Market on the 23rd, she once again stepped in to back the Daegu mayoral race.
Around 4 p.m. that day, the former president visited Daegu Seomun Market and greeted merchants with candidate Choo. She responded by waving to supporters who welcomed her.
After finishing her stump speech, the former president met with reporters and said, "I know well that Daegu's economy has been difficult lately and many of you are having a hard time," adding, "I believe candidate Choo is the right person to revive Daegu's economy. When serving as Minister of the Office for Government Policy Coordination, this is someone who worked in step with me."
She went on, "He also served as deputy prime minister for the economy, and I think he can revive the economy better than anyone," adding, "If those of you here give candidate Choo overwhelming support, he will surely repay you."
Earlier, the former president also toured South Gyeongsang, Chungcheong, and Gangwon, supporting People Power Party candidates.
