On the last weekend before the June 3 local elections, on the 30th, the leaders of the ruling and opposition parties will continue their campaigns, visiting the southern region and Gangwon, respectively.
Jung Chung-rae, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, held a campaign event on the morning of the 30th at Wando Traditional Market in South Jeolla with Min Hyeong-bae, candidate for the Gwangju–South Jeolla integrated special mayor, and Woo Hong-seop, candidate for Wando County governor.
Jung said, "This local election is an election to choose local workers, but first and foremost the most important thing is to give strength to President Lee Jae-myung," adding, "This local election is an election to choose local workers, but it is also an election to remove the remaining embers of insurrection."
Jung pledged support for local issues such as the Kim Promotion Institute, the abalone industry, and the Geumil Bridge, and said, "Please elect Woo Hong-seop as Wando County governor to give strength to President Lee Jae-myung."
After touring South Jeolla areas including Jindo, Jangheung and Suncheon, Jung plans to head to Hadong, South Gyeongsang, late in the afternoon to attend a campaign rally supporting candidate Je Yoon-kyung. On the 31st, he will move north, stopping by Gurye, Geumsan, Yeongdong and Boeun.
Jang Dong-hyeok, leader of the People Power Party, will visit Gangwon that day. He will visit the construction site of the east–west high-speed rail in Chuncheon, followed by a campaign rally at Gongjicheon Intersection.
