On the 30th, the second day of early voting for the June 3 local elections and National Assembly by-elections, candidates in Busan Buk-gap sparred on social media (SNS).
Independent candidate Han Dong-hoon posted a video on Facebook that day titled "The difference in attitude toward the people." The video showed Democratic Party of Korea candidate Ha Jung-woo talking with a man during a street campaign about allegations related to "Upstage."
When the man in the video raised the allegations, Ha said, "Again, again, again, again. You have to give me time so I can explain. Time."
When the man asked again, "If I give you 1 minute instead of 10 seconds, can you explain Upstage? I am an NHN shareholder," Ha replied, "You can't even tell NHN apart. They've been separated for more than 10 years."
In the latter part of the video, a scene shows a woman protesting to Han at a campaign site in Buk-gu. In the video, the woman said, "Is Buk-gu your rice bowl?" and "Don't come," and Han said, "Are you finished speaking?" and "Go on."
Ha then posted on Facebook a message titled "Assault on Buk-gu resident, Han Dong-hoon must answer," along with related footage and photos.
The released footage showed the man who had previously raised the Upstage allegations holding a placard with Han's name and the No. 6 symbol, clashing with other citizens on the street.
Ha said, "Yesterday on Deokcheon Youth Street, a YouTuber supporting Han assaulted a Buk-gu resident in a shocking incident," adding, "Violence against residents, the holders of sovereignty, is a challenge to democracy and an absolutely unacceptable criminal act."
He went on, "Immediately apologize before Buk-gu residents for the outdated illegal allegations and the violent acts of your supporters, and start by strictly managing your fan club," adding, "Pop-up style politics is absolutely unwelcome in our Buk-gu."
