Koo Yun-cheol, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, said on the 29th at a meeting of real estate-related ministers and a meeting of ministers on promoting dwellings supply that "we will move up the start of construction for the new Seongnam housing site, which will accommodate 6,300 households, to 2029, one year earlier than originally planned."
Deputy Prime Minister Koo said in his opening remarks, "The government is placing the highest priority in policy on expanding dwellings supply and breaking ground early." He added, "For the new Seongnam housing site, we will accelerate the timeline by integrating steps in the plan-drafting process." He went on, "For the sites in Dongdaemun District and Eunpyeong District, which will accommodate 2,800 households, we will promptly establish relocation plans by institution within the year."
The government also said that starting today, it will operate, led by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and in cooperation with local governments, a "pan-government dwellings supply field bottleneck relief support center." The aim is to identify and resolve obstacles at sites where dwellings supply is being delayed. Deputy Prime Minister Koo said, "We will decisively remove stumbling blocks at dwellings project sites so that groundbreaking can proceed as quickly as possible."
In addition, Deputy Prime Minister Koo said, "We will further strengthen management of public dwellings project procedures so that the public-sector supply volume can be secured as planned." He said that in places where projects are being delayed, including the Second Districts of Namyangju Wangsuk, Goyang Changneung, and Seongnam Bokjeong, causes will be checked and improvements made for each site.
Deputy Prime Minister Koo said, "We will also do our utmost to respond to illegal real estate activities that undermine the effectiveness of supply policy." It was reported that, led by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT), authorities are conducting focused investigations into suspected speculative transactions near new dwellings supply sites included in the 1·29 supply plan. A full review and verification of suspected fraudulent subscriptions involving 25,000 households across 43 complexes, including those in regulated areas of the greater Seoul area, is also underway.
