In response to Kim Ou-joon's question about conservative consolidation in the Busan-Ulsan-South Gyeongsang region, the leader acknowledged, "Yes," and said this election is "one that gives strength to President Lee Jae-myung and protects President Lee Jae-myung."
He added, "On the other side, 'Yoon again,' 'Park again,' and even 'MB again' are coming out, and conservatives are uniting," and said, "If the election goes wrong, it will be a big problem for President Lee Jae-myung." The leader went on to say, "I think it would be good if our aspirations for the Lee Jae-myung administration lead to a progressive grand rally."
In response to Kim's question about the readmission of candidate Kim Kwan-young, who is running as an independent, the leader said, "It is impossible under the party constitution and rules," but added, "As party leader, I am sorry that we did not fully consider the hearts of North Jeolla residents in the process."
He explained, "We inevitably made a decision due to suspicions of cash handouts," adding, "It was an unavoidable decision for the party leadership, but if not, it would have swallowed the nationwide election."
Regarding allegations that candidate Kim Yong-nam, running in the Pyeongtaek-eul by-election, was involved in loan-sharking, he said, "Whatever the reasons, he is a nominated candidate bearing the party leader's seal," and added, "Those helping Kim are working hard, but the reality is that there are party members who are not."
To Kim's question, "Can't the resignation be decided by the party leader alone?" the leader answered, "Yes," and said, "Regarding the allegations raised about candidate Kim Yong-nam, I hope he will actively explain himself and navigate this well."
