Starting tomorrow, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) said on the 27th that the dedicated Smart Pass departure lanes at Incheon Airport will increase to five from the current three. Smart Pass is a service that, once a passport, facial data, and boarding pass are registered in a mobile app, allows travelers to pass through departure halls and boarding gates at the airport using only facial recognition. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport plans to increase the number of these departure lanes to eight by the end of the year.
According to Incheon Airport, dedicated Smart Pass departure lanes are currently installed at three of the 16 total departure hall entrances. Starting tomorrow, they will increase to five, and by the end of the year, they will expand to eight. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) said it expects Smart Pass registrations and usage to rise as the number of dedicated entrances increases. As of March, the Smart Pass registration rate and usage rate are 10.1% and 14.7%, respectively.
