In Gangbuk District, Seoul, a sport utility vehicle (SUV) reversing hit a pedestrian in their 70s, causing a fatal crash.
At about 7:10 p.m. on the 25th, on a road in Suyu-dong, Gangbuk District, Seoul, an SUV driven by a woman in her 50s, identified as A, struck a pedestrian while reversing.
A man in his 70s was pinned under the vehicle in the crash and was taken to a hospital in cardiac arrest, but was pronounced dead, according to reports.
A, who encountered a construction site in an alley and then hurriedly reversed, caused the crash due to inexperienced driving, and there were reportedly no signs of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Police plan to book A on suspicion of violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Settlement of Traffic Accidents and investigate the circumstances of the crash.
