Oh Se-hoon, the People Power Party's Seoul mayoral candidate, said that if Chong Won-o, the Democratic Party of Korea's Seoul mayoral candidate, takes part in a debate at Samseong Station over the "GTX-A rebar omission incident in the Samseong Station section," he would visit the site together.
On the 23rd, visiting Seoul Forest in Seongdong District, Seoul, Oh told reporters, "If candidate Chong Won-o says we should go together and debate safety issues, I will go to the Samseong Station site."
Oh then aimed at Chong, saying, "That side, with the president's help, is trying to inflate the rebar omission into a rebar scare story as an election strategy," adding, "I will not fall for that."
Oh and Chong are trading barbs over the GTX-A rebar omissions in the Samseong Station section. That day, Chong again said construction should be temporarily halted for reinforcement and said Oh should personally go to the Samseong Station construction site.
On the 21st, Oh proposed a one-on-one debate to Chong on safety issues. He added, "After the omission was reported, the Seoul city government, following scientific and objective technical reviews, determined whether construction should proceed and concluded that carrying out construction and reinforcement concurrently would pose no safety problems."
