The Democratic Party of Korea on the 23rd, marking the 17th anniversary of former President Roh Moo-hyun's death, said it would "create a world where former President Roh Moo-hyun is not merely an object of longing, but where his spirit always lives with us."
Chief spokesperson Kang Jun-hyun said in a written briefing that day, "We pay tribute and pray for the eternal rest of the ever-missed name, former President Roh," and stated accordingly.
Kang, the chief spokesperson, said, "The reason we remember and miss the former president is because the legacy and spirit he left before Korea and its people are immensely precious," adding, "The Roh Moo-hyun spirit is proving more right as time goes by."
Kang said, "The philosophy of former President Roh Moo-hyun, who said 'the people are the president,' was the will to realize a democracy in which each and every citizen, as the owner of the nation, exercises power, participates, and shares responsibility," adding, "Upholding that all-too-obvious principle has always been a challenge for us."
Kang added, "The Lee Jae-myung administration is carrying on the Roh Moo-hyun spirit," saying, "Every direction of state affairs—such as a nation where the people are the owners, a world where people live with dignity, principled reforms, balanced national growth, and reasonable integration that transcends regions and factions—seeks the fulfillment of the Roh Moo-hyun spirit."
Kang, the chief spokesperson, emphasized, "We still have many tasks ahead of us. But now we will never waver," adding, "We will shame the complacency of those drunk on vested interests and boldly confront any trickery or agitation that strays from popular sovereignty and the Roh Moo-hyun spirit."
