On the 23rd, the first weekend of official campaigning for the June 3 local elections, People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyeok visited his constituency in South Chungcheong to rally support.
Jang visited Seocheon Janghang Traditional Market at 11 a.m. that day, shaking hands with merchants and greeting people as he campaigned.
After visiting Boryung earlier that day and then his own constituency in succession, Jang said, "Don't you also know that when the Democratic Party people get any chance, they use corporate cards and taxes as if it were their own money?" He added, "Seocheon is now shrinking in population and finances, and no matter how much the central government supports the budget, it is not enough. If you elect such people, there is no future for Seocheon."
He continued, "Four years ago, Governor Kim Tae-heum handed this constituency over to me and, as governor, worked harder than any other governor for four years for the development of South Chungcheong and achieved more progress than anyone." He added, "Now, for a stronger South Chungcheong, a great South Chungcheong, you must enable Governor Kim to work four more years," throwing his support behind South Chungcheong governor candidate Kim Tae-heum.
In particular, Jang said, "Aren't you watching what Lee Jae-myung and the Democratic Party are doing? Isn't it time to please change and be changed? We are fighting, and we need more strength," appealing, "For Kim Tae-heum to win, Boryung and Seocheon must deliver overwhelming support."
Jang also stumped for Seocheon County head candidate Kim Gi-woong, saying he is "not someone who shows off and polishes his image, but someone who will work quietly and tirelessly, on the ground, only for the development of Seocheon."
Meanwhile, South Chungcheong governor candidate Kim Tae-heum did not join Jang at the same time and held a joint rally in Buyeo.
