People Power Party floor leader Song Eon-seog on the 21st said, "The last breakwater that protects democracy and the rule of law is the people. With your own hands, please judge the Democratic Party's arrogance and dogmatism."
Song, the floor leader, said at a national press conference for the 6.3 local elections at the National Assembly on the morning of the 21st, "This local election will decide whether to keep in check the arrogance and dogmatism of the Lee Jae-myung administration and the Democratic Party, or to leave them unattended," and stated accordingly.
Song said, "What the ruling party should do is look after the people suffering from soaring prices and the ordinary citizens struggling with a real estate price surge and a jeonse and monthly rent crunch," and criticized, "Yet over the past year, the ruling party shattered ordinary citizens' dream of owning a home with all kinds of regulations and threats of every tax imaginable."
He continued, "Right now the government and the ruling party are stoking the fire for abolishing long-term holding deductions on capital gains tax, raising property holding taxes, and introducing a financial investment income tax," and warned, "If the Democratic Party wins, it will push in earnest policies that drop a harsh tax bomb while claiming 'the people approved.'"
He added, "They will openly pursue populist policies that spray cash and pass on national debt that future young generations will struggle to bear," and appealed, "To stabilize a real estate market headed to hell and to block a tax bomb, with your own hands please judge the Democratic Party."
In addition, Song, the floor leader, said, "If the Democratic Party ends up winning, it will start in earnest a special counsel to erase the president's crimes while spouting sophistry that the public supported canceling the indictment," and added, "Shouldn't we at least stop this?"
He went on, "Our People Power Party has had many shortcomings and has caused much disappointment," but added, "Even if the smoke stings, you can't jump into the fire, can you?"
He emphasized, "A vote for the Democratic Party ultimately means abandoning the rule of law, wrecking constitutional order, and ruining the Republic of Korea," and added, "To uphold the rule of law and common sense that say everyone is equal before the law, give your vote to the People Power Party."
