Reform Party leader Lee Jun-seok on the 21st, regarding President Lee Jae-myung pointing out Starbucks Korea's May 18 "Tank Day" event, said, "Can you call it justice to hand a nomination letter to, and back up, your party's candidate who drank alcohol, beat a person, and then used May 18 as an alibi?"
Lee said on social media (SNS) that "Shinsegae fired its president," and asked, "Can the Democratic Party cut its candidate?"
He went on to say, "The best way to insult May 18 is to use May 18 as a tool of politics," adding, "If you respect May 18, do not use the grievous resentment of those souls as an election ploy or a political tool."
Lee also said, "Even though Shinsegae responded beyond the threshold as a self-purification measure by a corporation, the president said all moral, administrative, legal, and political responsibility would be pursued."
He continued, "If a presidential office administrative officer causes a social uproar, will the president, who bears responsibility for management and command no less than Shinsegae's president, step down?" and added, "If a similar incident occurs at a ministry, will you fire the Minister?"
