Han Dong-hoon, an independent candidate running in the Busan Buk-gap by-election, unveiled pledges for regional development.
On the 19th, at his campaign office on the 7th floor of the Hanjin Building in Deokcheon-dong, Buk-gu, Busan, candidate Han held a press conference to announce his pledges and released a "Buk-gu future roadmap" with three themes.
Han first said he would make the Nakdong River the core axis of Buk-gu's development. "The Nakdong River is an extraordinary gift from nature, but we have not developed it like the Han River in Seoul," Han said, adding, "We will develop it into a 'Nakdong River golden belt' by linking the Nakdong River and Gupo to combine culture, food, and tourism."
He also pledged to improve infrastructure such as transportation, education, housing, and the environment. He said, "We will open the tentatively named Gupo Tunnel linking Gupo and Choeup, and introduce reversible lanes and an auxiliary bridge on Gupo Bridge." He also outlined plans to increase the number of KTX trains stopping at Gupo Station and to put the Gyeongbu Line underground to improve local transportation.
In education, he proposed creating a "premium edu-care center" that offers supervised study rooms and popular online lectures free of charge, and in housing and the environment, he proposed improving the living conditions of rental apartments, building smart public parking lots, and carrying out a maintenance project for the Deokcheoncheon waterway.
Han also said, "To ease the burden on families raising children with disabilities, we will enact the so-called 'Hee-soo Act,' the Developmentally Disabled Children's Basic Rights Guarantee Act, centered on a disability voucher with an out-of-pocket maximum system."
Han said, "For nearly 30 years, as a public official and politician, I have upheld the philosophy of putting the people first with the goal of advancing the public good," adding, "With politics that keep promises, we will make Buk-gu the true No. 1 'gap (甲)' in Korea."
