Song Eon-seog of the People Power Party, the floor leader, on the 18th took aim at the Democratic Party of Korea's push for the "special counsel bill to cancel indictments," saying, "At last, they say they will force through canceling indictments by mobilizing the full power of the state to erase the crimes of one president."
At a press briefing on June 3 local elections issues held at the National Assembly that morning, the floor leader said, "I earnestly ask (the people) to judge the ruling party's arrogance. Please block tyranny," and stated accordingly.
He said, "We cannot allow canceling indictments and a judicial coup that mobilize presidential power to erase the crimes of one president," adding, "The people will also not tolerate the tax bombs waiting after the local elections, such as abolishing the long-term holding special deduction, raising property holding taxes, and introducing a financial investment income tax."
He continued, "We cannot leave unattended the strike chaos and massive disruption at industrial worksites caused by the 'yellow envelope law, a new labor law aimed at strengthening the bargaining rights of subcontract workers,'" and argued, "A vote to block canceling indictments, a vote to stop tax bombs, a vote to prevent strike chaos, and a choice to check a dangerous administration and the unstable ruling party's one-man rule is the People Power Party."
The floor leader said, "The People Power Party was lacking. It is true that we lacked the number of seats and the capability to check such one-man rule," and emphasized, "We earnestly ask the people to make up for our shortcomings. Only a powerful warning from the people is the sole way to halt the administration's runaway."
He mentioned Democratic Party metropolitan mayoral and gubernatorial candidates Chong Won-o, Park Chan-dae, Choo Mi-ae, Chun Jae-soo, and Woo Sang-ho, and criticized, "Can you find the dignity of progressives, the dignity of the ruling party, in the Democratic Party candidates?" adding, "We must judge the Democratic Party's arrogance in this election for nominating such incompetent and undignified people."
