People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyeok attended the opening of candidate Yoon Yong-geun's campaign office for the Gongju, Buyeo and Cheongyang parliamentary by-election in Gongju, South Chungcheong Province, to lend his support.
At the opening of People Power Party candidate Yoon Yong-geun's campaign office for the Gongju, Buyeo and Cheongyang parliamentary race on the 17th, Jang said, "Former Deputy Minister Jeong tried to run here but made a major decision for the party and for a conservative victory," adding, "I believe that decision will surely lead to victory."
Jang then told Yoon, "In the National Assembly, we need a true fighter who can confront the Democratic Party and the lawless Lee Jae-myung administration," adding, "Now, Yoon Yong-geun has been called here by Korea, by Korea's future."
Former Deputy Minister Jeong, who has been elected four times solely in Gongju, Buyeo and Cheongyang, also attended the opening. Jeong said, "The current president using power to erase personal crimes and wipe out trials—this cannot happen in a civilized nation," adding, "We must make the Geum River our final defensive line and fight a decisive battle."
Jeong added, "I believe practicing love for the party is practicing patriotism more than focusing on the individual," and said, "I decided to love the People Power Party more than myself."
In addition to leader Jang and former Deputy Minister Jeong, senior lawmakers, including Kim Gi-hyeon, Na Kyung-won, Sung Il-jong and Yoon Sang-hyun, attended the opening to boost Yoon's campaign.
