The Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL) said on the 12th that it has launched a labor inspection into The Carry, the operator of the childrenswear brand Bebedepino, which faces allegations of unpaid wages and illegal dispatch.
That day, the Labor Inspection Division of the Seoul Regional Office of Employment and Labor began a labor inspection of The Carry headquarters in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
According to recent media reports, workers at Bebedepino stores claim they have not received overtime, night, and holiday pay, or even severance. They also said commute records are not being properly managed. There are also allegations of illegal dispatch, with claims that workers signed labor contracts with The Carry's affiliates but received work orders from The Carry.
Vice Minister Kwon Chang-jun said, "It is very regrettable that in corporations with annual sales exceeding 100 billion won, multiple cases of unpaid wages have occurred and even basic labor management, such as managing commute records, has not been observed."
