Chun Jae-soo, the Democratic Party of Korea's Busan mayoral candidate, said on the 12th that "when the maritime capital Busan meets young people, it becomes infinite."
Visiting Korea Maritime University that day for a special lecture for 2026 freshmen, Chun said, "Busan is a city that can embrace not only traditional industries such as shipbuilding and shipping but also any future industry, including artificial intelligence (AI), content, data, and finance," and stated accordingly.
Noting that the inflow of students from the Seoul metropolitan area to universities in Busan has recently increased, Chun said, "It is a very meaningful change that Busan has begun to appear to young people as a city of new opportunities. Choosing Busan from another region means staking the most precious youth."
Chun also said, "I will surely complete the maritime capital Busan so that when you graduate, you can say, 'I'm glad I chose Busan,'" and added, "On the grand vision of the maritime capital Busan, I ask you young people to unfold an infinite future."
