In the primary, three people competed: Attorney Yoon; So Jeong-im, vice chair of the People Power Party Finance Committee; and Yoon Min-a, former Deputy Director at the Office of the Prime Minister. The People Power Party conducted the primary by reflecting 50% of votes from a party member electoral college over two days and 50% from a public opinion poll of the general public.
Yoon, who hails from Buyeo, graduated from Jangam Elementary School, Jangam Middle School and Buyeo High School, then entered the law department at Chungnam National University and has worked as an attorney after passing the 48th bar exam. In this local election, Yoon is set to face Democratic Party of Korea candidate Attorney Kim Young-bin.
Yoon will face Attorney Kim Young-bin, a native of Gongju who was strategically nominated by the Democratic Party of Korea, in the general election. Kim, the party's fourth recruited talent, was born in Gongju and worked as a prosecutor for about 10 years.
