The People Power Party is launching a national election committee with Jang Dong-hyeok as standing election committee chairperson. It put blocking the special counsel bill to cancel President Lee Jae-myung's indictment at the forefront of the campaign.
The People Power Party said on the 12th that it will hold a launch event for the "National election committee to judge disregard for the people and block indictment cancellation" at the central party headquarters on the morning of the 13th.
The central campaign committee appointed Jang and experts in various fields, including real estate, the real economy, youth, women, and welfare, as standing campaign committee chairpersons. They include Shim Kyo-eon, a professor in the Department of Real Estate at Konkuk University; Yang Jun-mo, a professor in the Department of Economics at Yonsei University; Lee Yoon-jin, a professor at the Institute of Health and Aging Society at Konkuk University; and Choi Ji-ye, director at Jiye Co.
In addition, floor leader Song Eon-seog; policy committee chairperson Jeong Jeom-sig; and supreme council members Shin Dong-wook, Kim Min-su, Kim Jae-won, Woo Jae-jun, and Cho Gwang-han will join as co-chairs of the election committee.
Under the central campaign committee, a committee to block the special counsel bill on indictment cancellation will be established, with lawmaker Joo Jin-woo serving as chairperson. The People Power Party said, "We will respond firmly together with the people to the ruthless attempt by the Lee Jae-myung administration to destroy the judiciary," adding, "We will fully inform the public about the unconstitutionality and illegality of the special counsel bill on indictment cancellation."
Chung Hee-yong, the secretary-general, will serve as head of the central campaign committee's election headquarters, and lawmakers ▲Park Soo-young (head of policy pledges headquarters) ▲Seo Cheon-ho (head of strategy headquarters) ▲Yoo Young-ha (head of planning headquarters) ▲Kang Myeong-gu (head of organization headquarters) ▲Seo Ji-young (head of public relations headquarters) ▲Gwak Gyu-taek (head of clean elections headquarters) ▲Park Sung-hoon, Choi Bo-yoon, Choi Soo-jin, Park Chung-kwon (spokespersons) ▲Cho Seung-hwan (head of the Yeouido Institute) will participate.
