People Power Party Seoul mayoral candidate Oh Se-hoon on the 4th criticized the Democratic Party of Korea's push for the "special counsel bill to uncover the truth about fabricated indictments," saying it was "an unprecedented, end-of-the-line farce in which a defendant would appoint a special counsel to drop charges in their own case," and added, "All forces that believe in Korea's conscience and common sense must unite to resist this."
In a post on social media (SNS) titled "We will fight until the day the rule of law prevails," Oh said, "The moment the law is designed for a particular person and functions as that person's shield, that country is no longer a nation of laws," adding, "That is dictatorship."
Earlier, on the 30th, the Democratic Party of Korea introduced a special counsel bill granting the authority to drop charges, naming 12 cases, including President Lee Jae-myung's criminal cases, as targets for investigation.
Oh said, "The so-called 'special counsel bill to uncover the truth about fabricated indictments' pushed by the Democratic Party is, in a word, 'Lee Jae-myung erasing Lee Jae-myung's crimes,'" adding, "It is a tyrannical act that shakes the foundations of the criminal justice system that the people have protected with blood and sweat. Is this country Korea, or is it Lee Jae-myung's nation?"
Oh also said, "To resist this lawless 'attempt to delete crimes,' all forces that believe in Korea's conscience and common sense must unite," adding, "As a first step, opposition-leaning metropolitan candidates in the greater Seoul area will urgently put their heads together today. We will build a joint front to stop this judicial coup and move to responses that can be implemented immediately."
He continued, "We earnestly and urgently appeal to the people. If you want a country where everyone is equal before the law, a country where justice is alive, now bring together your anger and resolve as one," adding, "Your voice is the most powerful force that can stop this massive injustice."
Oh said, "We will definitely stop this runaway," adding, "Until the day the rule of law prevails, we will find the strongest and most efficient way."
