People Power Party Seoul mayoral candidate Oh Se-hoon, Incheon mayoral candidate Yoo Jeong-bok, and Gyeonggi governor candidate Yang Hyang-ja will meet on the afternoon of the 4th in Yeouido with Reform Party metropolitan-area local government candidates.
On the 3rd, campaign Spokesperson Kim Byung-min for candidate Oh said, "At 11:30 a.m. tomorrow, big-tent opposition candidates in the capital region will gather to discuss strong measures to block the special prosecutor bill."
Spokesperson Kim said, "We welcome the big-tent opposition cooperation proposed by Reform Party candidate Cho Eung-cheon to oppose the handling of the 'special act to dismiss the indictment of President Lee Jae-myung,'" adding that attendees will include People Power Party candidates in the capital region as well as Reform Party Seoul mayoral candidate Kim Jeong-cheol and candidate Cho.
On the 30th of last month, after the Democratic Party of Korea introduced the "special prosecutor bill on alleged fabricated investigations and indictments by the Yoon Suk-yeol administration," they agreed that a joint front was needed to block it, and they were said to be preparing concrete countermeasures through the meeting.
This follows Reform Party candidate Cho's proposal that morning to hold a multi-party joint meeting of metropolitan mayor and governor candidates in the capital region. Although conservative opposition metropolitan candidates could not gather that day due to individual schedules, they were said to all agree with the intent.
Meeting with reporters that day, candidate Oh said, "The special prosecutor bill to dismiss indictments is an intolerable attempt to drag 21st-century democracy back to a barbaric age," adding, "We must stop it."
Issuing a statement, candidate Cho said, "I thank the capital-region candidates for readily accepting the sudden proposal for the greater good," adding, "Let's stop this judicial rebellion."
